Advantages and Disadvantages of Rooting Android

Tuesday, April 30, 2013

If you own an Android mobile the word 'rooting' will be families to you. If you didn't know what is rooting, here it is. Rooting is the process of getting permission to edit files in your rom. What is rom?? It is this rom which stores the files of Android OS. Before rooting you cannot edit or see these files. But after rooting you will get access to rom. Which means you will get the permission to edit the rom files or files of Android.

Rooting is also called Jail Breaking. Breaking a jail and getting out is risky even though it is essential. Likewise rooting an android will have many advantages as well as disadvantages. I have explained in detail below. Read them if you are at the edge of rooting.

Advantages of Rooting Android

Upgrage to latest version Android

Stuck in Android Froyo or Ginger bread?? After rooting you can install custom rom. There are different custom roms of Jelly bean and ICS available in Xda Forums

Freeze apps running in background

Some apps run in background consuming a good part of ram. Even if you close them they will open automatically. After rooting you can stop/freeze them

Move apps from internal memory to SD Card

You may have noticed that some apps cannot be installed in sd card. But using link2sd/app2sd you can move them to sd card

Play hd games without lag

By installing applications like chainfire 3d, game booster you can play hd games without lag. Some games which doesn't even open before rooting will work

Remove System Applications

Android comes with some default applications like email, gmail, google talk, news and whether, all share etc. Do you really need them. Some of them automatically opens and use ram. So it is always better to remove them if you don't want it. Before rooting it is not possible

Remove Ads from Applications

I really hate ads in apps. Even some games have large ads. Using lucky patcher we can remove those ads

Remove license check of Apps

If you download paid (got free from somewhere) apps and install you may get an error like "license not found. Please install from play store" these types of errors can be removed by patching that application with lucky patcher

Disadvantages of Rooting Android

It will Void Warranty

When you root your phone it will void the warranty. That is if something happens after rooting in the warranty period, if you go the mobile service centre they are not going to help you. It will completely void your phones warranty

Your Phone may become Brick

And the ultimate one. The most risky part of rooting. Your phone may become dead. Only way to repair is to change the full mother board. Just like a brick it will become useless. So it is also called bricking. Don't worry if you do rooting properly bricking will not happens. I have rooted my android phone and many of my friends too. Never gone wrong...
